Understanding the law

The main factor in becoming a bondsman is to understand the law.  You need to understand how the criminal justice system work and what rules you need to follow in order to make sure that the rights of the suspect are maintained as well as the rights of others in the community.  You can’t just go off like a vigilante dress up in a costume and get the bad guys.

As a bondsman you are taking on the role of an officer without some key restrictions.  Since you will be working with the law and on an independent contract level, you will be able to do some things that typical law enforcement officers can’t do.  Since you are enforcing a bond, it is a legal document supported by the courts.
