Interesting, very interesting. I can't say how effective it is until I use it personally, but in theory it looks like it will work far, far better than the old convoluted menus & tiny incomprehensible toolbar buttons system Microsoft was using (ugh!). It's a step in the right direction, to be sure. I'm glad MS is starting to realize that real UI innovation is key to improving products and reaping new sales. I was reading about it in the London Times the other night and saw some screen grabs. The GUI is 'tabs and ribbons' - very similar to websites. I think you're right, the convergance of websites and applications is going both ways and meeting right in the middle with the best of both worlds. Have you seen the new Office 12 beta?
